Virat Kohli added another feather to his already illustrious cap during the third ODI against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Kohli became the first Indian and only the sixth player in cricket history to notch up 4000 international runs (109 innings) against England across all formats.

The Virat Kohli 4000 run milestone against England came in vintage fashion as he used his quick feet and wristy flick to send the ball between mid-wicket and mid-on for a boundary off Saqib Mahmood in the 7th over.

What makes this achievement even more special is that England is the third team against whom Kohli has crossed the 4000-run mark in international cricket. Out of these, 1991 runs have come across 28 Tests, 648 runs in 21 T20Is and 1361 runs in 38 ODIs.

He has already reached the same milestone against Australia and West Indies, becoming only the second player after Ricky Ponting to do so against three different nations. Here’s how Kohli stacks up against the best:

It hasn’t been a smooth ride for Kohli in this series. He missed the first ODI due to a knee injury and looked a bit rusty in the second ODI, getting dismissed for just 5 runs.

But class is permanent and Kohli reminded everyone of his ability in the ongoing match as he is looking solid and composed at the crease.

At the time of writing this article, Kohli has reached 17 off 26 balls with three fours with India at 48/1, having lost Rohit Sharma. Kohli, however, looks in full control, ready to anchor the innings alongside Shubman Gill and guide India to a competitive total.
