Perth Scorchers scamper to 137 with Devine, Scholfield cameos
Perth Scorchers listed 137-5 in 20 overs after their sluggish start, losing opener Katie Mack inside the powerplay and number three Maddy Darke for just three from six balls. Beth Mooney hammered 33 runs from 26 balls with four fours and a six and captain Sophie Devine muscled 34 off 29 to top-score in the innings. Paige Scholfield, meanwhile, provided the slog-overs impetus at the death with her swift 27* run knock in 22 balls.
For Hobart Hurricanes, England spinner Linsey Smith (2-8) and Australian pacer Heather Graham (2-26) picked up four wickets between them to derail Scorchers at several junctures of the innings.
Lizelle Lee obliterates Perth Scorchers in Hobart’s big win
With Danni Wyatt-Hodge making 16 at nearly a run-a-ball before falling to Amy Edgar (1-13), her opening partner Lizelle Lee pounded 77* runs off just 44 deliveries, clattering 10 fours and four huge sixes in the process. The South African opener shared a 49-run partnership with Hodge, before crafting a match-winning 77-run stand with number three Nat Sciver-Brunt (35 off 27).
Nicola Carey (6* off 4) notched up the winning runs for Hobart Hurricanes in just 15 overs with eight wickets to spare as they lifted their maiden WBBL silverware.
