There have been many instances in the past when players have given their everything for their country despite getting injured. In the ongoing match against Afghanistan, South Africa's Wiaan Mulder did the same after getting injured on the field.

Wiaan Mulder Injures Himself But Stays On The Field

South Africa's power-hitting all-rounder, Wiaan Mulder, who was fielding against the Afghanistan side in the ongoing 3rd match of the Champions Trophy 2025 at the National Stadium Karachi, got injured after diving to stop a boundary. Mulder put in the effort to stop the boundary but unfortunately rubbed his arm on the field and got a laceration, which resulted in heavy bleeding on his right arm.

Mulder was then seen rubbing the wound as he still continued playing and never went off the field. He was seen in visible pain, but for the national interest, he stood on the ground and continued to fight against their opponents in the crucial game.

In this encounter, Mulder is one of the key aspects for South Africa. The all-rounder, who got to bat only six deliveries in the match, scored 12 runs with a four and a six. He then returned to bowl and, by the end of 24 overs, had delivered six overs while giving away just 17 runs, where he managed to pick the crucial wicket of skipper Hashmatullah Shahid on a duck.

Going forward in the tournament, Mulder will be highly crucial to South Africa, who are already missing their star batter, Heinrich Klassen, in this game due to an injury.

This means Mulder will have to step up every time the Proteas take the field under the leadership of Temba Bavuma. The effort by Mulder displays his resilience and grit, which come along with being a South African, as they always strive to give their best.

Afghanistan Lose Five During The Chase

Regarding the game, South Africa scored 315 runs in their respective 50 overs for losing six wickets. In return, Afghanistan are in deep trouble by the end of 24 overs as they only had 95 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets with Rahmat Shah and Mohammed Nabi at the crease as they still require 221 runs for victory.
