As we move to the final day of the group stage in the Lanka Premier League 2022, it just gets much more intense with teams having a close battle for the playoff spot.

Match no. 19: Jaffna Kings vs Colombo Stars

Second and third positioned sides with a point difference of four points are having a shot at each other with Jaffna having the lead. In their last respective games, Colombo were beaten in a one-sided contest by Kandy Falcons while Jaffna defeated Galle Gladiators by a margin of 16 runs.

Key Players

  • Avishka Fernando is having a decent run in this competition with 228 runs from seven matches.
  • Binura Fernando has played just three matches and has been on fire with the ball scalping 10 wickets at an economy of 5.82.

Prediction

Without any doubt, Jaffna looks the favourite and should dominate in this contest as they possess a better and more adaptable line-up.

Match no. 20: Galle Gladiators vs Dambulla Aura

Reeling at the bottom of the table, both these sides have had a tough time in the competition with two and one win for Galle and Dambulla, respectively. While it is going to be a must-win contest, Dambulla still won't qualify straightaway as the net run-rate will play a huge role in determining their pathway.

Key Players

  • Sikandar Raza has finally started to be at his best in this edition as in the last game, he thumped 45 runs while grabbing a wicket.
  • A wicket in every game Nuwan Thushara has been in the limelight for all the right reasons as he has managed to get 12 wickets in 7 games at an economy rate of 6.97.

Prediction

Dasun Shanaka-led Dambulla Aura didn't had a great season but in the previous game their best came off, which shows they are capable of winning this one too. Hence, should win the match.
