The caravan moved to the Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot for the 2nd ODI between India and New Zealand. The fans were delighted when they learnt that the hosts will bat first, as fans turned up in thousands to see Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in action.

The event didn’t go as planned because Virat Kohli and Rohit failed to score big. Rohit Sharma struggled and amassed 24 (38). Kohli, on the other hand, got off to a positive start and looked good but fell prey to 24-year-old Kristian Clarke and returned to the pavilion for a low score of 23 (29), which featured a couple of boundaries.

Interestingly, New Zealand’s Kristian Clarke, who is featuring in his 2nd ODI, spoiled the party for the two veterans and hogged the headlines for picking up three wickets. The Virat Kohli fan-club was disappointed and in rage because Virat Kohli has limited ODIs ahead of him, and the entire fan base has one demand, which is to see their idol go past Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries.

Virat Kohli fanclub slams Michael Clarke instead of Kristian Clarke

Virat missed out on scoring one in the first ODI, and now a lost opportunity in the 2nd ODI resulted in a section of the fan base targeting Kristian Clarke on his social media. However, amid the rush to slam Clarke, the fans landed on the wrong page and slammed former Australia captain Michael Clarke.

Notably, Clarke, who recently recovered from cancer, last posted on Instagram on January 7, which was related to the award he received. However, the fans, without verifying, jumped to the comment section and made distasteful remarks.

The Virat Kohli fan club slammed Clarke and wrote comments such as ‘Why did you take Virat’s wicket’, ‘Virat Kohli is king’, and also dropped a lot of abusive slurs. Here are a few reactions from the fans.

Not the first time when Virat fans attacked the bowler

It is not the first time that Virat Kohli fanbase has attacked a player, particularly bowler for getting their idol's wicket in a match. Notably, Virat kohli returned to domestic cricket in January, where he was deprived of a century by Andhra bowler  Satyanarayana Raju.

Even then, the fans rushed to slam Raju on their social media and bombarded his feed with  derogatory comments across social media.

A similar case occurred during last year's Ranji Trophy, where Himanshu Sangwan was under the scanner after taking Virat's wicket. Lucky for Himashu, he had turned off social media comments even before the start of the match.

Nonetheless,  the fans were in anger and rather targeted the wrong Himanshu Sangwan, who is not even a cricketer. The fan put up insta stories, urging Virat fans to not troll him and also challenged for a live-stream to confirm that.

A similar situation has occurred here where they have targetted the wrong Clarke along with actual Kirtsen Clarke.
