Indian fans continue to hold an unforgiving outlook towards young Afghanistan seamer Naveen-ul-Haq for an infamous on-field rift with the favourite son of the soil Virat Kohli

The two cricketers engaged in an ugly verbal altercation during this year's edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) but the aftermath of the controversial spat continues to haunt Naveen.

Months have rolled by, but the young Afghan quick continues to face the 'Kohli Kohli' chants wherever he goes. Naveen was given a hard time by Indian fans present in the stands in Dharamshala for Afghanistan's ICC World Cup 2023 opening game against Bangladesh with the shouts of Indian legend's name.

When Naveen was placed near the ropes during Bangladesh's run-chase, he was treated with disdain by Indian fans present inside the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. The promising quick was greeted with chants of "Kohli Kohli!!" following him in the backdrop, which has become a notorious crowd activity for the Afghan seamer on Indian shores.

Naveen-Ul-Haq Greeted With 'Kohli Kohli' Chants Again

The trend of "Kohli Kohli" chants for Naveen began immediately after the two modern-day cricketers engaged in a contentious argument during the IPL 2023 league stage encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Wherever Naveen went after the LSG-RCB fixture played in Lucknow, the Afghanistan seamer faced chants by the name of the Indian batting maestro during the IPL 2023. It wasn't a shock then to see Indian fans present at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala greet the right-arm quick with such chants one more time against Bangladesh.

The IPL 2023 league match played on May 1 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow became famous for the poor altercation between Kohli and Naveen. Things escalated when Kohli first sledged Naveen at the fag end of LSG's batting effort, before the two cricketers were then seen engaging in a round of abuse thrown at each other while the two teams shook hands after the result.

LSG team mentor Gautam Gambhir took offence to Kohli's behaviour with his player and had a heated argument with his India former teammate turned alleged foe, requiring the rest of the players and support staff personnel to intervene and ensure the two individuals didn't cross the line.
