Team India in action [Twitter]
Host broadcaster Star Sports came up with an emotional promo to raise the excitement levels amongst fans prior to India's much-anticipated ICC World Cup 2023 opening clash against Australia on Sunday (October 8).
Before Team India lock horns with their longstanding arch-rivals for the most awaited encounter of the tournament so far in Chepauk, Star echoed the heartfelt wishes from the billion fans for Rohit Sharma & company, letting the players know: "We believe in you."
The promotional clip featured both the fans and the leading Indian cricketers and underlined the immense love for the game felt on both sides. While the players were shown leading the Indian team on the park and standing with moist eyes for the national anthem at previous editions of the World Cup, fans were seen painting their faces, and waving the country's flag to showcase their great support.
Star Sports Unveils Emotional Promo Before India-Australia Clash
After coming for criticism on social media for their content and pre-game promos before the World Cup, Star Sports seems to have made timely amends with the latest clip ahead of the India-Australia clash, also featuring the song "Jeet tere haath main (the victory is in your hands)."
As played in the clip with the series of brief representative images upholding the lyrics, the song goes:
"jab tu khud hai apne saath main, toh sab se hai tere sath main (when you have your own back, everything is in your control."
"Kabhi hausle, kabhi himmat, mutthi main band minnatein (sometimes it's the courage, other times it's resolve that you hold, with humble pleas in your closed hand)."
"Tu khud hai tere saath main, toh jeet tere haath main (when you have your own back, the victory is in your hands)."
Each Indian player is shown to be representing the fans during the clip, symbolising their roar and hopes of clinching the ultimate glory for the nation and bringing home the World Cup after 12 long years of wait while also ending the painstaking ICC trophy jinx since the 2013 Champions Trophy.
