The India tour of England 2025 is coming to an end with an exciting fifth Test match at the Kennington Oval in London. KL Rahul has been a special player with the bat for the Indian team on the tour.
He has looked like the most technically sound player and has played a major role in giving the team solid starts in most of the innings. However, he has unlocked a special achievement with his fielding in the Oval Test.
Most Catches By An Indian In England
Notably, England has been tasked with chasing down 374 runs in the fourth innings of the match. Ben Duckett, the opener of the English team, was looking good in the middle, and the Indian team was hoping for his wicket early on Day 4.
Much to the delight of the skipper, Shubman Gill, the fans and the management, Prasidh Krishna produced the delivery that resulted in the demise of the southpaw.
Players | Catches |
Sunil Gavaskar | 35 |
Rahul Dravid | 30 |
KL Rahul | 26* |
Virat Kohli | 25 |
Eknath Solkar, Sachin Tendulkar | 22 |
It was a full delivery outside the off stump, at which Duckett threw his bat in an attempt to drive away from the body. All he got was an outside edge that KL Rahul took in second slip.
As the Indian opener grabbed the catch, he went over Virat Kohli in the list of most catches taken by an Indian in England. Kohli had 25 catches to his name in England, while with that grab, Rahul now has 26 under his belt.
Notably, Rahul is now third in the list, with only Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar ahead of him. Dravid stands at 30, while Gavaskar has 35 catches under his belt. KL might not be able to advance in the rank in this game, but it is expected that he will return to the country and have opportunities to claim the throne for himself.
