In a remarkable achievement, KL Rahul completed 1000 Test runs on English soil, joining Indian legends on an elite list. The veteran cricketer attained the feat during the ongoing fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester.

KL Rahul Completes 1000 Test Runs In England

After England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first, India had a steady start to their innings, with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal cautiously negotiating the English seamers. Talking about Rahul, the 33-year-old cricketer neutralised the challenging deliveries while putting away the loose ones to the fence.

Eventually, Rahul brought up his 1000th Test run in England, joining several legendary Indian cricketers on an elusive list.

Overall, he became only the fifth Indian batter after Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli and Sunil Gavaskar to achieve the milestone.

Most Test Runs For India In England

  • Sachin Tendulkar - 1575 runs in 30 innings
  • Rahul Dravid - 1376 runs in 23 innings
  • Sunil Gavaskar - 1152 runs in 28 innings
  • Virat Kohli - 1096 runs in 33 innings
  • KL Rahul - 1004* runs in 25 innings

As mentioned above, Sachin Tendulkar has the most Test runs by an Indian batter in England. Rahul Dravid follows him with 1376 runs under his belt, while Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul claim the third, fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

Rahul has been an impressive performer in England, amassing crucial runs for India at top of the batting order. Although he had a topsy-turvy maiden outing in the country back in 2018, the Karnataka batter managed to turn things around on the subsequent tours.

He has performed admirably in the ongoing series, amassing 394* runs at an average of 65.67. Regarding the Manchester Test, Rahul and Jaiswal have provided India with a solid start, powering them to 35 for none as of writing.
