KKR's Does the Predictable; Chooses Suyash Sharma as Impact Player

The leg-spinner Suyash Sharma has been Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) go-to man this season using him as an impact player most of the time. Following their trend, the Nitish Rana-led side have called in the spinner in place for batter Venkatesh Iyer for their second innings during the clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

This move came after Kolkata posted 149 on the board with Iyer smashing the half-century. Suyash has been bowling brilliantly in his maiden season with 10 wickets in eight matches where his economy has been around 8.

The impact player sub has been predictably the same for KKR with Iyer and sometimes opener Jason Roy being asked to sit on the bench when they field.

Earlier, Kolkata batted first and could only manage 149 as the Rajasthan bowlers Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal did most of the damage with the ball.

In the hope of defending 150, Kolkata gave away too many runs in the first over itself as skipper Nitish Rana was thumped for 26 runs.

By the time of writing, Rajasthan were 40 for 1 after the conclusion of two overs with both Jaiswal and Sanju Samson at the crease.
