London Spirit captain Kane Williamson struck his first fifty in The Hundred competition, leading his side to a crucial 47-run victory over Southern Brave in the 26th match of The Hundred 2025 at Lord's on August 23, 2025.
Williamson's fifty in The Hundred comes after a period of relatively quieter performances in the 2025 tournament. Facing Southern Brave, London Spirit's openers David Warner and Jamie Smith had provided a flying start before Michael Bracewell took two quick wickets, including Smith's brilliant 44 off 18 balls.
Kane's Maiden Fifty Comes In Debut Season!
Williamson took charge in the 3rd wicket partnering with Ashton Turner, hitting a 26-ball half-century and showcasing his classic style mixed with powerful shots, including two sixes off England pacer Jofra Archer, who had an expensive spell.
He scored 53 runs off 28 balls at a strike rate of 189.29 and hit 4 boundaries and 3 sixes before falling to Archer. In the tournament so far, Kane Williamson has amassed 183 runs from his seven matches with decent outings, but at an average of only 26.14. The New Zealanders' knock ensured that London Spirit maintained their momentum and reached a strong total of 186/4 from their 100 balls.
Brave Crumbles During Chase
Chasing 187, Southern Brave stumbled early, losing James Vince (4) and Leus du Plooy (7) cheaply. Jason Roy (37 off 23) and James Coles (18 off 10) added some momentum, but their dismissals in quick succession opened the floodgates.
Laurie Evans struck a brisk 37 off 21 with four sixes, yet lacked support from the lower order. The Brave collapsed from 111/4 to 139 all out in 92 balls. Richard Gleeson (3/30) and Liam Dawson (3/23) were outstanding, while Jamie Overton chipped in with 2/35.
