On Day 2 of the fifth Test between India and England at the Kia Oval, a massive argument erupted between Joe Root and Prasidh Krishna post lunch. The incident occurred on the last ball of the 22nd over.
Notably, on the last ball of Prasidh's over, Root scored a boundary, and he crossed past Krishna; there were a few words exchanged by the Indian bowler. Meanwhile, Root, who is known for his calm demeanour, lost his cool on this occasion and hurled a few words in exchange.
Root Loses Cool Over Krishna
The two players came close after the end of the over, and the umpire stepped in to separate the two. Mohammed Siraj too stepped into the heated argument and was seen clapping near Root's face.
It was not the end as Root welcomed Krishna for his next over with a boundary on the first ball. The right-arm seamer bounced back nicely and bowled two beautiful deliveries, followed it up with a death stare. It was quite evident that the two players were fired up following that exchange of words.
India Turn On Sledge Mode On Day 2 Of Fifth Test
Usually, it is the England players who bring out the sledging mode, but on Day 2 of the fifth Test, it was the India players who were hurling a few words to the Three Lions.
Prior to Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep made it to the headlines after the right-arm seamer gave a never-before-seen send-off to Ben Duckett and now risks a fine following the end of the fifth Test.
The aggression has helped India, as at the time of writing this article, England are 142/3 and trail by 82 runs. It is a crucial innings for India as they trail the series 1-2.
