In one of the most surreal moments of MLC 2025 so far, Jason Holder delivered a ball that struck the off stump of Seattle Orcas batter Shayan Jahangir, yet the bail refused to dislodge. The incident, unfolded during a high-octane clash between Seattle Orcas and Los Angeles Knight Riders on June 29, 2025.

The moment occurred early in the Orcas’ chase of a daunting 204 target set by LAKR. With Josh Brown dismissed for a two-ball duck by Holder, the pressure was on. That pressure could have doubled had Jahangir’s stumps actually lit up as they should have. Instead, luck favoured the Orcas.

In the 11th over, Jahangir attempted a risky reverse scoop to a full delivery from Holder. The delivery beat him, prompting Holder and keeper Unmukt Chand to go up in a loud appeal for a caught behind. Captain Holder reviewed the on-field decision, convinced he heard a noise. UltraEdge did show a spike, but it turned out to be the bat hitting the pitch, not the ball. Surprisingly, replays showed the ball brushing the off stump yet the bail neither fell nor lit up.

Even more astonishing, one of the off bails lifted slightly but settled back into place without triggering the zing mechanism. With the review lost and the batter still at the crease, it proved a costly miss.

Jahangir made the most of the reprieve, scoring a valuable 43 off 31 balls, and along with Aaron Jones who smashed 73 from 38 balls. The duo stitched together a 119-run partnership that anchored the Orcas' chase.

Talking a look at the points table, Seattle Orcas are in the 3rd position on the points table with just two wins in 7 matches they have played so far; on the other hand, Los Angeles Knight Riders are at the bottom of the table with just one win in 6 matches they have played so far.
