First ODI ended in a no-result [Source: Twitter]
With the first One-Day International (ODI) ending in a no result following persistent rain, Ireland's hope of directly qualifying for the ICC World Cup 2023 was dashed. The second ODI between Ireland and visitors Bangladesh will also be played at the County Ground in Chelmsford, which continues to be threatened by inclement weather.
Ireland failed to keep pressure on Bangladesh batters after pinning them three down for fifty-odd runs. Poor lengths and lack of discipline ensured Bangladesh was let off the hook.
Joshua Little, Mark Adair, and Graham Hume were excellent, claiming as many as seven wickets between them. Little, despite picking wickets, needs to cut down on his economy. Batting also faltered, chasing 247.
Irish batter will need to find ways to score against an in-form pace attack that will enjoy exploiting the conditions.
On the other hand, Bangladesh will need their star openers to come good, especially Tamim Iqbal, who has been going through a rut. Najmul Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim remain their batting mainstay, with Shakib and Mehidy Miraz chipping in.
Ebadot Hossain continued his impressive run in the absence of Taskin Ahmed as the spearhead of the attack. It will be interesting to see how much Hasan, Miraz, and Taijul Islam extract purchase with overcast conditions.

Pitch Report
As seen in the first ODI, the track at Chelmsford assist batters, if they spend time in the middle. However, with the overhead conditions and slight grass on the pitch, the pacers will get help all through the day.
