With only a few months to go before the scheduled Asia Cup 2023, the ambiguity surrounding its venue remains. Asia Cup 2023, which is due to be played in Pakistan, and be run by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has run into a hurdle with India opposing travel.

Now, PCB chairman Najam Sethi, who has been meeting with ACC and other members, has confirmed that the decision on the upcoming Asia Cup will be out in two weeks. As reported by The News, Sethi, who is visiting London for medical reasons, stated that nothing has been finalised yet.

Several reports stated that the tournament could be shifted to Sri Lanka entirely, with other boards also striking down PCB's proposed hybrid model.

Here's what Sethi said

"Nothing has been finalised as yet. We will have a decision on the Asia Cup Cricket within the next two weeks,”

Another source within the ACC said that all members want the issue to be resolved quickly, and do not want the competition to get canceled with this being the World Cup year.

“Since Asia Cup will help continent teams prepare for the World Cup, an early settlement to the pending issue is all the more important,”

The PCB have made it clear that if the tournament shifts from Pakistan, they will withdraw their participation.

Apart from India and Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal are also taking part in the Asia Cup. Sri Lanka are the defending champions, having won the title last year in UAE.
