IND-W Vs WI-W 2nd ODI: Pitch Report
Pitch Report (WV Raman): "We are back here for the second ODI. The conditions are fantastic. We have moved from pitch number six to pitch number seven. What does it do to the dimensions? It tweaks a little bit. 69m down the ground and the square boundaries are 58m. Behind square it's 52m.
As far as the pitch is concerned, it looks drier. Less grass on the surface but it will still play well enough for the batters to have a field day like they had the other night. But what the young spinner from West Indies showed us that there is a recipe for success if they stick to the stump-to-stump line. Zaida James was brilliant. Later in the evening, we saw Renuka Thakur bamboozle the batters with a mix of swing and seam. She was brilliant and she was absolutely spot on in terms of lengths and lines.
This pitch will be good for batting and the bowlers will need to be crafty on this surface. But it will be a fantastic game to watch."
IND-W Vs WI-W 2nd ODI: Captains' Thoughts
Hayley Matthews (West Indies Women Captain): "Yeah if we would have won the toss, we would have batted first as well. Obviously the pitch is not expected to change much throughout the day but we still have to go out there and do our job. Hopefully we go out there and taking early wickets. Yeah the break was really good. Few of the girls trained as they are hungry and want to improve. Yeah we have one change, Nerissa Crafton is making her ODI Debut in place of Shabika Gajnabi. Yeah 100%. We have obviously realized that. We had a discussion on it in our meeting and we certainly want to improve on it."
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women Captain): "We are gonna bat first. In the last game, we did well and we want to carry forward the same. I believe that when something goes well, you have to continue with that. Definitely, I feel we have done well in the last ODI and we want to continue the same momentum. All are in a good space and want to do well. We are going with the same team."
