CSK retained Shivam Dube [Source: @balltamperrer/X.Com]
When CSK drafted in Shivam Dube in their side, a couple of seasons ago, there were doubts over his T20 prowess partly due to his failed stints with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
However, all the criticism took a back-seat as after 3 years, he became an integral part of MS Dhoni's CSK side and became the batting mainstay alongside skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad. He was bought for INR 4 crore in the IPL 2022 auction, and at that point of time, 4 crore looked like a failed investment by the 5 time IPL champions.
However, Dube silenced everyone as he piled on truckloads of runs and won the title in 2023 with the Yellow Army.
How much did CSK spend on Mumbai all-rounder?
Bought for 4 crore in 2022, the Super Kings decided to retain him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The explosive batter was retained by the side for INR 12 crore as only Ruturaj Gaikwad (18 crore), Ravindra Jadeja (18 crore), Matheesha Pathirana (13 crore) were ahead of the pecking order.
In the last 3 years, Dube has repaid the faith shown in by the CSK management and as a result, the franchise decided to make him one of the top retentions, even ahead of franchise legend, MS Dhoni.
