Virat Kohli silenced his critics with a magnificent 52nd ODI century in the Ranchi ODI match on Sunday. Coming into bat at 3, Kohli looked in sublime touch as the legendary batter played a quick-fire knock of 135 off 120 balls and courtesy of his brilliance, Team India reached a mammoth total of 349/8.

Rohit showcases raw emotions as Kohli completes century

Known for his artistry with the bat, Kohli showed his brute force in the clash as the batter slammed seven humongous sixes and notched up one of his finest hundreds in ODIs. 

After reaching the century milestone, which was his second of the year, Kohli was all pumped up as he jumped in the air and celebrated in joy. Interestingly, it was not only Kohli who looked happy, but his teammate, Rohit Sharma, expressed his joy, but not in a typical Rohit way.

In a video that has gone viral, Rohit was pumped up after Kohli’s century landmark as he let a loud grunt and said a thing or two, which many fans believed was directed towards their critics, who wish to not see them in the ODIs in the near future.

Was the Rohit gesture directed towards Gambhir-Agarkar duo?

Rohit and Kohli (RO-KO) were India’s best batters when the team lifted the Champions Trophy earlier in 2025. However, after their sudden Test retirement in May, speculations were raised that head coach, Gautam Gambhir, and chief selector, Ajit Agarkar were adamant not to have the legendary duo in the ODI team.

Reports circulated that Agarkar gave an ultimatum to the duo to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy to prove their worth in the ODI setup, a condition which was reportedly accepted by Rohit and Kohli.

While Rohit scored a sublime fifty in the Ranchi ODI, Kohli scored a brilliant ton and this looked like a statement from the duo as Rohit reportedly showed his aggressive side towards the management.
