In a significant development, Bangladesh have won the toss and elected to bat first in the all-important World Cup clash against Pakistan at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The Tigers have made one change to their playing XI, replacing Mahedi Hasan with Towhid Hridoy. Meanwhile, Pakistan have made three significant changes, replacing Imam-ul-Haq, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz with Fakhar Zaman, Agha Salman and Usama Mir, respectively.

At toss, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan revealed that they would bat first considering the dryness of the surface and said,

"We will bat first. Looks like a dry wicket. We played the last game here. It got drier as the game progressed, and it was spinning under the lights. We have nothing to lose. We have to play well in the first 10 overs, and hopefully, we can go from there. We have been performing in bits and pieces. Today, we need to put in our best performance. We have got one change. Sheikh Mahedi not playing, and Towhid Hridoy comes in."

On the other hand, his Pakistani counterpart Babar Azam said,

"We would have batted first as well. The pitch looks very dry. We were good in all three departments in the last game but we couldn't get across the finishing line. I'm trying to score big today. Hopefully, today will be the day when I'll score good runs and contribute. We have three changes today. Imam, Nawaz and Shadab are not playing. Fakhar, Agha Salman and Usama come into the side."
