Desert Vipers’ experimental opener Azam Khan got deceived by a back-of-a-length ball from Dubai Capitals’ new ball pacer Obed McCoy in just the second over of the match. Forming forces at 37-2, Dan Lawrence and Sam Curran crafted 45 runs together for the third wicket, with the latter chipping in with swift a 20-ball 28 before getting toppled by Qais Ahmad. Shortly after guiding the Vipers past the 100-run mark in less than 12 overs, Lawrence became Ahmad’s second victim of the evening after scoring 44 runs from 31 balls.
