Melbourne Renegades match winning streak finally came to an end on Saturday, December 24 as Hobart Hurricanes swatted them aside to register a narrow eight-run victory at Bellerive Oval, Hobart.

The Men in Purple defended a low total of 122 runs and bowled the opposition out for 114 runs in 19.2 overs. Only Will Sutherland and Jonathan Wells could go past the 25-run mark, having scored 40 and 26 runs respectively.

For Hobart Hurricanes, Riley Meredith and Shadab Khan ran riot and dismantled the Renegades line-up, having bagged three-wicket hauls each while Patrick Dooley, and Joel Paris also scalped two wickets each.

Earlier, having won the bat flip and opting to take a strike first, the Hurricanes got off to a mesmerising start, courtesy of Jimmy Neesham's quick knock of 28 runs from 19 balls. However, his dismissal in the sixth over opened the floodgates for them.

Nathan Ellis, in the end, scored crucial 21 runs from 18 deliveries to help Hobart Hurricanes escape embarrassment as they were bundled out for just 122 runs in 18 overs. Joe Paris also contributed 12 runs, which was the third-highest individual score for Hobart on Saturday.

From Melbourne Renegades' bowling point of view, Akeal Hosein, and David Moody bagged three-wicket hauls each. Andre Russell was impressive as well, having picked up two wickets while Mujeeb Ur Rehman, and Tom Rogers got a brace each.
