The much-awaited WPL 2026 match between the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians is underway at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Jemimah Rodrigues won the toss on her captaincy debut and asked Harmanpreet Kaur’s MI to bat first. 

The defending champions lost an early wicket, but Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur took the onus on their shoulders. They went all guns blazing and Brunt slammed a 32-ball fifty to put the Mumbai Indians in a comfortable position. Meanwhile, Harmanpreet Kaur brought up her fifty in 34 balls.

With the fifty, Harmanpreet Kaur and Sciver-Brunt brought up their ninth fifty-plus total in WPL history. Notably, they went passed Ellyse Perry’s tally, who has eight half-centuries in 25 innings. Furthermore, Brunt and Kaur have now equalled Meg Lanning’s feat for most fifties in WPL.

Nat Sciver-Brunt regains confidence after horror vs RCB

Notably, Nat Sciver-Brunt was in the news for the last 24 hours after her last over against RCB in the opening game of WPL 2026. The 2024 WPL winners required 18 runs to win off the last over and Brunt started the things well with two dot deliveries.

RCB had just 0.96% win probability and Nadine de Klerk slammed Brunt for 18 runs off the last four balls. The incident shattered Brunt's confidence, but this knock would certainly boost up the England star.
