In the ongoing fourth Test between India and England at Old Trafford in Manchester, things are not going well for the visitors as the Ben Stokes-led side have taken a massive lead of over 100 runs with six wickets in hand.
Indian bowlers have looked a pale shadow of their prime versions, and in a surprising event, Jasprit Bumrah also struggled for wickets. The right-arm seamer is not having the best of Tests as he has not taken a solitary wicket in the Manchester Test.
Bumrah Bowls Slowest Over Of The Series
Further, Bumrah also scripted an unwanted feat as the 31-year-old bowled his slowest over of the entire England tour. The first over from the Mumbai Indians' seamer after tea is the slowest he has averaged on the speedometer in the ongoing tour.
Notably, the right-arm seamer struggled to go past the 130 kmph barrier and averaged just 80.3 mph, which is around 129.5 kmph.
Why Was Bumrah Bowling Slow Post Tea?
Notably, Jasprit Bumrah had done some damage to his ankle as he left the field just after a solitary over post lunch. He returned to the field a few overs before the tea and was struggling with his left ankle.
Bumrah was barred from bowling because of ICC rules, which force a player to stay on the field for the same amount of time they were outside before they can resume bowling duties. Therefore, Shubman Gill couldn't ask Bumrah to bowl a few overs before Tea.
In the first over he bowled post tea, Jasprit was struggling with his left ankle, which was the reason behind the drop in his pace.
Bumrah On The Brink Of Another Embarrassing Stat
For the unversed, Jasprit Bumrah has never conceded 100 runs in a Test match, but the right-arm seamer fears scripting this unwanted feat as at the time of writing this article, Bumrah has registered the figures of 1/85 in his 25 overs.
