In a significant development, Pakistan have won the toss and opted to bat first in the all-important Champions Trophy encounter against India at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The hosts have made only one change to their playing XI, with Imam-ul-Haq replacing swashbuckling opener Fakhar Zaman.

Why Have Pakistan Excluded Fakhar Zaman?

Fakhar Zaman has been an integral member of the Pakistan team over the years. However, the explosive opener sustained an unfortunate injury on the very first day of the Champions Trophy.

Although he came out to bat in the middle order, Fakhar felt serious discomfort during the run chase. He was ultimately declared unfit before being ruled out for the entire event. As a result, he was sidelined from the Champions Trophy, with Imam replacing him in the top order.

Imam, who has plenty of experience, will open the batting with Babar Azam. However, Pakistan have kept their remaining team unchanged, with Agha Salman, Khushdil Shah and Saud Shakeel expected to play key roles with skipper Rizwan.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will rely on Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf to spearhead their bowling front. On the other hand, Abrar Ahmed will lead their spin bowling attack.
