Starting off in a decent manner, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opted to bat first on a turning track that is expected to get slower with time. The duo of Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad faced the opening spell and played safely for the first few overs.

However, Conway was finding it difficult on this pitch getting two chances but finally getting trapped by Axar Patel in front of the stumps. Spinners Lalit Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar did their job brilliantly during the middle overs.

Senior Pro Ajinkya Rahane was batting well when he was caught brilliantly by Lalit during the twelfth over. Rahane's wicket left CSK in a worry as four wickets were down for 77.

After that, southpaw Shivam Dube took matters into his hands and banged three huge sixes to keep the scoreboard ticking alongside Ambati Rayudu.

When Rayudu departed after the completion of 16.2 overs, the score was 126 and they need some big blows from the big boys MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. And to the joy of fans, they both delivered with Jadeja smashing one four and a six whereas Dhoni went berserk with two sixes and a four striking at 222 after facing 9 balls before perishing in the final over.

In the end, the home side reached 167 for the loss of eight wickets with pace bowling all-rounder Mitchell Marsh bagging figures of 3 for 18 after bowling three overs.
