Delhi Capitals: 128/6 in 19.2 overs (David Warner 57 (41), Manish Pandey 21 (23); Varun Chakravarthy 2-16, Nitish Rana 2-17) beat Kolkata Knight Riders: 127/10 in 20 overs (Jason Roy 43 (39), Andre Russell 38 (31); Kuldeep Yadav 2-15, Ishant Sharma 2-19) by 4 wickets.

The IPL 2023 witnessed a nail-biting encounter between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi on Thursday. DC, finally broke their losing streak in a captivating low-scoring thriller as they beat KKR by four wickets to secure their first win of the competition.

How the battle panned out?

DC skipper, David Warner, won the toss and decided to bowl first. His decision turned out to be a game-changer as DC bowlers wreaked havoc and reduced KKR to 35/3 in the powerplay. While Jason Roy played a remarkable knock, scoring a gritty 43 runs, the other KKR batsmen struggled to find their footing and kept departing at regular intervals.

Roy was the seventh wicket to fall, and KKR were left reeling at 99/7. However, Andre Russell played a useful cameo at the end and smashed three sixes in the last over to guide KKR to a respectable total of 127 runs.

In response, David Warner started the innings with an attacking mindset after facing criticism for his slow strike rate in recent times. However, his opening partner Prithvi Shaw's poor form continued as he departed early after scoring just 13 runs. Mitchell Marsh and Phil Salt couldn't do much and departed quickly, leaving DC in a bit of trouble.

The DC captain held the innings together with a fine half-century, whereas Manish Pandey provided steady support at the other end. DC seemed to be cruising towards victory, but KKR's bowlers staged an incredible comeback. They dismissed Warner, Pandey and Aman Hakim Khan in quick succession, and DC was left reeling at 111/6.

It was a crucial moment in the match, and the game could have gone either way. However, Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav held their nerves and guided DC to a crucial victory without any further setbacks. KKR fought valiantly and tried to drag the game as deep as possible, but Patel and Yadav's partnership ensured that DC emerged victorious.

Delhi Capitals will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next match on April 24, and they will look to build on their winning momentum from this game. The DC fans will be thrilled to see their team break their losing streak and hope that they continue their winning form in the upcoming matches.
