In the much-anticipated third match of the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025, Gujarat Giants Women will take on UP Warriorz Women at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. It is important to note that, Gujarat Giants captain Ashleigh Gardner won the toss and opted to bowl first.

TOSS UPDATE: Gujarat Giants Women have won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Gujarat Giants will be looking to bounce back after suffering a defeat in their opening match against RCB. In that high-scoring contest, Gujarat posted a formidable 201/5 in 20 overs, with Australian stars Beth Mooney and Ashleigh Gardner leading the charge. However, RCB chased down the target in just 18.3 overs, thanks to explosive half-centuries from Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh.

On the other hand, UP Warriorz are set to begin their campaign under new captain Deepti Sharma. Their previous skipper, Alyssa Healy, was ruled out of the tournament due to injury, prompting the Warriorz to bring in West Indies star player Chinelle Henry as a replacement.

GG-W vs UPW-W: Captains' Thoughts

Ashleigh Gardner (Gujarat Giants Women Captain): "We would like to bowl first. The dew plays a part here. But I think it's really a hard ground to defend. Hopefully, we can take some wickets early and chase it down quickly. Plenty of positives to take from the first game. We batted really well. We have to field well. It hurt us in the end. We have to be simple with the ball. Just have to keep hitting the stumps more often. No changes for us."

Deepti Sharma (UP Warriorz Women Captain): "We would have bowled first as well. So far, the practice matches have been really well. We are looking forward to this game. The preparation has been good. We had lots of bonding sessions. We gelled with each other really well. We knew each other’s strengths. We have two debutants in Alana and Kranti. Tahlia McGrath, Sophie, Alana and Grace are the four overseas players."
