On Tuesday, August 19, South Africa locked horns against Australia at the Cazalys Stadium. The hosts won the toss and opted to field first. The Proteas got off to a great start, but lost a few wickets post first powerplay.

Eyes were on Dewald Brevis, who was making his ODI debut at the age of 22. The much-awaited debut didn't turn out as expected because the CSK blood returned to the ball on the second ball of his innings.

Dewald Brevis Starts ODI Career With A Six

Notably, Brevis started his ODI career with a bang as he slammed a six off the very first ball, but fell to Travis Head's trap and gave a catch at the ropes while attempting a six again. 

While the debut didn't turn out as expected, Brevis still managed to enter the history books as the 22-year-old joined an elite list of cricketers to start their ODI career with a maximum.

Notably, Brevis is the second South Africa star after Johann Louw, who achieved the feat in 2008. 

Dewald Brevis Eyes To Replicate T20I Success In ODIs

Dewald Brevis got off to a flyer in T20Is as he was South Africa's best player in the recently concluded T20I series.  Notably, Brevis scored 190 runs in five innings, which featured a century and a fifty-plus score.

Notably, Dewald Brevis also shattered several world records, which includes the youngest to score a century for South Africa in T20Is and also the highest-ever individual score for the Proteas.
