Chennai Super Kings’ latest signing in the IPL 2026 Auction, Aman Khan, found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons during a Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26 match on Monday.

Leading Puducherry against Jharkhand, the Aman Khan registered the most expensive bowling spell in men’s List A cricket history.

Aman Khan’s record-breaking spell draws attention

Bowling his full quota of 10 overs, Aman conceded a staggering 123 runs while picking up just one wicket. His economy rate of 12.30 was the highest ever recorded for a bowler completing 10 overs in List A cricket.

This unfortunate record came just days after Arunachal Pradesh’s Mibom Mosu had conceded 116 runs in nine overs earlier in the same tournament.

The performance quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, especially given Aman Khan’s recent signing by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 40 lakh at the IPL 2026 mini-auction.

Having already represented Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals in previous IPL seasons, CSK will hope their new recruit uses this experience as a learning moment. In the IPL, he has played 12 matches and made 115 runs at a strike rate of 110.57.

Aman Khan’s record in List A so far

So far, Aman Khan has played 16 List A matches in his career. He has taken 17 wickets from 13 innings at an economy rate of 6.98. His best bowling performance in List A cricket is an impressive 6 wickets for 30 runs.

With the bat, Aman has scored 329 runs at an average of 29.90 at a strike rate of 97.33. Overall, these numbers show that Aman Khan has been a useful all-rounder, contributing with both bat and ball.

Jharkhand Batters Punish Puducherry Attack

Talking about the match, Puducherry won the toss and opted to bowl first. Batting first, Jharkhand delivered a dominant batting display, piling up a massive 368 for 7. Their captain, Kumar Kushagra, led from the front with a superb century and made 105 runs off 104 balls.

The middle order provided steady support, while Anukul Roy and Md Kounain Quraishi launched a fierce assault in the final overs. The Puducherry bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, especially during the death overs, where Aman Khan struggled the most.

Puducherry’s chase falls short

Chasing a daunting target of 369, Puducherry were under pressure from the start. Early wickets disrupted their momentum, and the required run rate kept climbing. While there were a few brief partnerships, none were able to turn the game around.

Aman Khan tried to contribute with the bat, scoring 28 runs off 24 balls. However, his efforts were not enough as Puducherry were bowled out for 235 in 41.4 overs, handing Jharkhand a commanding 133-run victory.

Puducherry will get another chance to bounce back when they face Karnataka on December 31.  Aman Khan and his team will need to regroup quickly to avoid another challenging contest.
