Devon Conway missed out on a well-deserved maiden IPL century in the ongoing match against the Punjab Kings. On a track that slowed down as the innings progressed, Conway scored a brilliant 92 off just 52 balls.

Conway has been CSK's best batter throughout the season, and barring a blip against the Rajasthan Royals in the previous game, he has stepped up for CSK each and every time.

Conway started on the front-foot and was the aggressor in his partnership alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad. He hinted what was about to come with back-to-back boundaries to Kagiso Rabada and then performed exceptionally well against spinner Rahul Chahar.

The southpaw was not afraid to use his feet against the spinners and that made him rotate the strike when the boundaries dried up.

He added 86 for the opening wicket alongside Gaikwad and laid a strong foundation for the middle-order batters to capitalise.

Post the 10th over, the wicket slowed a touch and scoring boundaries became difficult. But Conway kept the run-flow going and his innings was laced with 16 fours and a solitary six.

Conway was batting at 91 in the last over, but didn’t get enough deliveries to get to his maiden IPL hundred. Skipper MS Dhoni, finished off in style once again with back-to-back sixes to help CSK get to 200 on the board.

Conway remained unbeaten at 92.
