He's Grown as a Leader: Kieron Pollard Lauds 'Birthday Boy' Rohit Sharma

Mumbai Indians batting coach, Kieron Pollard has showered his praise for skipper Rohit Sharma, who turns 36 today.

The former MI all-rounder, Pollard stated that when Rohit took over the captaincy, he was still young, but over the years he has grown as a leader.

Interestingly, a few days ago, Rohit completed 10 years as the captain of the Mumbai Indians. With the five-times IPL champions, set to take on Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede on Saturday, the MI players and staff have poured their wishes for the MI leader.

Here's what KP said:

“He’s grown as a leader. I mean he’s grown into leadership. Obviously, it was entrusted onto him in 2013 in the middle of a season. He was still pretty young at that point in time.”

He added: “That shows you that a person has a great acumen of what he can accomplish and we are lucky to have him as a leader. He has a wealth of experience, so it’s a matter of tapping into that and continuing to see him grow."

Mumbai Indians batter, Suryakumar Yadav, also gave a birthday wish to Rohit and lauded the way he has led the side for the last 10 years.

“Here we are in his 10th year as captain. So obviously 10 years as captain, that too for a franchise like Mumbai Indians. I think it is a very, very big achievement. It’s a story in itself. He’s brought so much glory for the franchise, winning five trophies under his captaincy.”

Rohit's opening partner, Ishan Kishan stated that winning 5 championships is no easy feat and believes that Rohit.

"Winning 5 Championship as Captain is a great achievement. I know how he is as a captain, he’s done so much for the team.”
