The Gujarat Titans are currently playing against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 51st match of the IPL 2025. The match is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India.
Shubman Gill, the star batter and the skipper of the Gujarat Titans was playing a stunning and graceful knock in the match. However, his innings was cut short by an unfortunate run-out that has given rise to controversies and speculations.
Shubman Gill Falls Pret To Unfortunate Run-out
On the last delivery of the 13th over, Ansari bowled a length delivery at the middle and leg stump line. Buttler turned it towards the onside and set off for a quick single. Harshal Patel collected the ball in time and threw it at the keeper's end.
Heinrich Klaasen, the wicketkeeper of the SRH team seemed to have dislodged the bails in time to effect the run out. However, the replays gave rise to confusion whether the bails were dislodged by the bails or by the gloves of the keeper.
Shubman Gill Was Angry After The Decision
The third umpire saw the replay many times and at last determined that the balls have indeed hit the stumps. The confusion was because the ball had touched the stumps and at the same time the gloves of the keeper also effected the dislodging of the bails. At the end, it was inferred that the bails were dislodged fairley and hence, Shubman Gill had to walk back to the hut after scoring 76 runs off 38 deliveries.
Shubman Gill was seen angry and frustrated after walking out. The GT skipper was seen having an animated chat with the match-officials in the sideline.
As per the rules of ICC, the stumps have to be broken fairly by the fielder to effect a run-out. The third umpire for the ongoing GT vs SRH match thought that whatever transpired during the incident was fair and hence the decision was ruled in fabour of the fielding side.
