Chamari Athapaththu Bamboozles Pakistan Batters With Brilliant Spell In Women's T20 World Cup

Is there anything that Chamari Athapaththu can't do at the moment? She can bat, she can lead the team, and she surely can take wickets to give Sri Lanka the edge. That's exactly what she did in the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup match against Pakistan.

Pakistan opted to bat first and the decision back-fired as the Asian side lost a flurry of wickets, and the momentum was in the Sri Lankan corner. Sugandika Kumari was the star with the ball as she scalped wickets of Gul Feroza and Muneeba Ali to stun the Pakistan side in the early going.

At one stage, Pakistan had lost 3 wickets inside 32 runs, with little to no momentum, but then Omaima Sohail and Nida Dar added valuable runs and started the repair work. Just when it looked that Pakistan have got the momentum back, Sri Lankan skipper, Athapaththu rolled the dice and her introduction changed the game once again.

She started with the wicket of Sidra Ameen in the early going, and once the Sohail-Dar partnership was broken by Kavisha Dilhari, Athapaththu took care of the middle-order batters and took the wickets of Tuba Hassan and Aliya Riaz in back-to-back deliveries to bamboozle the Pakistan team. She ended her spell with figures of 3 for 18 inside 4 overs.

Sri Lanka, the dark horse to win the World Cup

The Sri Lankan side are one of the favourites to win the T20 World Cup this year. In Athapaththu, they have a fierce leader and a brilliant batter. The team has a solid batting lineup and the conditions in UAE will suit their spinners.

The Sri Lankan side, recently won the Women's Asia Cup by thrashing the favourites, India, and will be confident of pulling off the upset in this season's T20 World Cup as well.
