A total of four teams locked horns on Friday, January 27th in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Let's take a quick review of the action transpired.

Match 25: Sylhet Strikers vs Rangpur Riders

Result: Rangpur Riders won by six wickets.

After being asked to bat first, Sylhet Strikers could only manage a 92 on the board at the end of 20 overs. The strikers got off to a very poor start as they were reduced to seven down with only eighteen on the board inside the first ten overs. Sakib and skipper Mortaza tried to stitch a partnership and saved the home side from further embarrassment. With the ball, Azmatullah Omarzai was the pick of the bowlers for Rangpur, who completely bamboozled the Strikers' top order. Hasan Mahmud also scalped three wickets and Mahedi Hasan took a couple as well.

In reply, Rangpur Riders also got off to a poor start as they could only manage 28 on the board in the first six overs. They further struggled to get going and lost a couple of wickets in the middle. However, they had the advantage of having a target in front of them and with Rony Talukdar helding his nerves till the end, Rangpur got across the line with more than four overs to spare.

Match 26: Chattogram Challengers vs Fortune Barishal

Result: Fortune Barishal won by three wickets

Anamul Haque’s masterclass and some late fireworks from Karim Janat helped Fortune Barishal beat Chattogram Challengers in a tricky chase. As a result Shakib Al Hasan’s men have climbed up to the top of the table now. After being asked to bat first, Chattogram Challengers posted a formidable total of 168 in the first innings, thanks to a brilliant innings at the end from the Irish international Curtis Campher, who was playing his first game of the tournament.

In reply, it was all about Anamul Haque for the Fortune Barishal from the very word go. The Barishal kept losing wickets regularly but Anamul made sure they did not remain behind in the chase. Moreover, Karim Janat played a match -winning cameo at the end to take Fortune Barishal across the line with four balls to spare.
