Muzarabani honoured [Source: @ZimCricketv/x.com]
In the last two decades, Zimbabwe Cricket has witnessed a great slump as once touted one of the most exciting teams to watch, Zimbabwe has become an international side that hardly plays international matches against quality opposition and is often forced to play with B or C teams of the top international sides.
However, despite the adversity, the last couple of years have seen them rise from the Ashes, as they have built an exciting young group of players, including star pacer, Blessing Muzarabani. The lanky pacer has quickly made a name for himself and has become a household name.
On Tuesday, after the conclusion of the South Africa vs Zimbabwe Test, Muzarabani was honoured by the Zimbabwe Cricket Board for a special achievement, and this was despite the fact that the hosts lost against the reigning WTC champions.
Why was Muzarabani honoured by Zimbabwe Cricket?
The hosts, Zimbabwe were defeated by the South African team in the first Test and after the clash, the pacer was presented with a memento to honour him. He recently became the quickest bowler from his nation to reach the landmark of 50 Test wickets, a feat he should be proud of.
He achieved the feat during the Bangladesh tour, a couple of months ago but since then, Zimbabwe players have gone on their separate paths (due to franchise cricket) and the board never got a chance to truly honour him.
Muzarabani's outstanding Test career
Having made his Test debut in 2017 against South Africa, the pacer has gone from strength to strength over the last 8 years. So far, he has played 14 Tests and has scalped 57 wickets at an average of 23.75.
Interestingly, he reached the landmark of 50 Test wickets in 18 innings (11 matches) and broke the previous record set by Heath Streak.
