Australia are playing their first match of the T20 World Cup 2024 against Oman. This match is being played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

The Australian team is out there hunting a cricketing treble. One of the biggest strengths of this team is their pace attack with Mitchell Starc leading them. However, threat looms over the pacer's future in the tournament.

Mitchell Starc started his bowling spell on a great note as he picked up a wicket in the first over. It looked he has carried over the form and momentum from a successful IPL 2024 campaign. But in the 15th over of the innings something happened which the Australian management would have been happy to avoid.

Starc bowled the first ball of the over and it was a wide. As he returned to his bowling mark, it looked like he was in some kind of discomfort. The physios were out there treating him. What looked like a cramp might turn out to be loft lower leg niggle for the star bowler. He was not able to complete the over as Glenn Maxwell bowled it in place of him.

However, it has been confirmed by the Australian camp that the injury is nothing serious and it is only a cramp.

Australia marching towards their first win

Regarding the performance of Australia in the game, they posted 164 runs in their 20 overs after being asked to bat first Sulehri. David Warner (56 off 51) and Marcus Stoinis (67 off 36) starred with the bat for the ODI and Test champions.

While defending the Aussie bowling attack has delivered to expectations and have taken the game out of Oman's head withing the first 10 overs of the innings. At the time of writing Oman are stationed at 119/8 in 18.5 overs.
