Papua new Guinea are playing against Uganda in the ninth match of the T20 World Cup 2024. This match is being played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

The Ugandan skipper, Brian Masaba won the toss and opted to field first during the game. A lot of the Papua New Guinea depended on their skipper Assad Vala. The left-handed opening batter is one of the prime stays of the PNG batting.

Vala got a good start in the previous game against West Indies. He looked in good touch as he scored 21 runs off 22 balls. When Vala was really finding his rhyth, Roston Chase took a brilliant catch at backward point of Alzarri Joseph's bowling to dismiss him.

Vala trapped in front of the stumps

While a lot of the PNG innings depended on Assad Vala, he failed to get them off to a start. Alpesh Ramjani, the left arm orthodox spinner trapped him in front of the stumps off the second delivery of the very first over.

Vala consulted with his non-striker and went for the review. However, the review was unsuccessful as the replays showed that he was trapped in front of the stumps. This early jolt did not go down well with the PNG batting line-up. They have failed to recover from it and are currently struggling to post a respectable total on the board.
