The cricket carnival in Australia is back and so is the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL). The much-anticipated curtain raiser of the tournament is set to take place between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers on Thursday, October 13 at The Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay.
Brisbane Heat had an average WBBL season in 2021. They won eight of their 14 league stage matches and finished the season in the third position on the WBBL 2021 leader board. They lost the Eliminator game against Adelaide Strikers and were knocked out of the tournament.
This year, Brisbane has a solid batting order at their disposal as well as a potent bowling attack in their arsenal. Overall, the likes of Jess Jonassen, Grace Harris, Amelia Kerr, and Laura Harris will hold the impetus for the team, and they will look to go the distance this season.
Sydney Sixers, on the other hand, had a nightmarish season last year as they managed to win just four of their 14 league stage matches and ended the campaign at the bottom of the table. They will be keen to make amends and spark a turnaround this year with the star all-rounder Ellyse Perry at the helm.
