South Africa lost the three-match ODI series against Shikhar Dhawan-led India by a margin of 1-2 in New Delhi on Tuesday, 11 October. They suffered a humiliating seven wickets loss in the third and final ODI of the series.

Put to bat first, the David Miller-led South Africa were bundled out for just 99 runs. India, in reply, rode on Shubman Gill's flamboyant knock to gun down the target in just 19.1 overs with seven wickets in hand.

Losing both the T20I and ODI series against India, that too ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022 must have damaged the confidence of the Proteas. Meanwhile, their head coach Mark Boucher is of a different opinion.

Speaking after the match in Delhi, Boucher brushed aside South Africa's' bowling concerns and said the conditions in Australia will heavily assist their seamers.

"Australia will suit our fast bowlers a lot better. We have got some good pace, and some good bounce in our attack, so we need to keep the aggression there. I think the last one-day game we played there wasn't enough aggression."

South Africa to take lessons from the series loss

The outgoing coach further lavished praise on India's bowling attack and said they bowled with more aggression as compared to South African bowlers.

Notably, India's pace attack got on the throat of South Africa in the deciding ODI on Tuesday at New Delhi and bowled out the visitors for a meagre 99 in 27.1 overs. Weighing in on the same, Boucher said:

"Surprisingly India's bowling attack in the ODIs bowled with far more aggression than what we did."

Boucher signed off by saying that they will take the positives from the recently concluded white-ball series against India and will head into T20 World Cup 2022 with better plans and strategies.

"I think we have taken some lessons and we have had good chats behind closed doors to speak about things that we can get better at."

"That will stand us in good stead going forward to Australia where the conditions are completely different. It's disappointing to lose but we have a massive competition in front of us and that is what we are gearing up for."
