England’s wicketkeeper, Ben Foakes completed 1000 runs in Test cricket on Monday. He reached the landmark on the fourth day of the second Test match between India and England in Visakhapatnam. With that, he became only the 12th wicket-keeper batter from England to achieve the landmark of 1000 runs in Test cricket.

He added 55 runs for the eighth wicket with Tom Hartley and kept England’s hopes alive to some extent. However, Jasprit Bumrah finally broke the partnership, picking Foakes' wicket with a slower delivery.

England's wicket-keeper departed after scoring 36 off 69 balls, a knock which was laced with 4 fours and 1 six. The England’s wicket-keeper batter hasn’t had a great series with the bat thus far. Prior to this knock, he had accumulated only 44 runs in three innings with scores of 6, 4, and 34.

Ben Foakes made his debut for England Test team against Sri Lanka on 6th November 2018. In his very first innings, he played a sensational knock of 107 runs, impressing one and all with his batting exploits.

He was also part of England’s squad for the tour of India in 2021 in the absence of Jos Buttler. He impressed everyone with his terrific wicket-keeping skills. So far, he has managed to play 21 Tests, scoring 1014 runs at an average of 31.69. He has scored two centuries and four half-centuries as well.

India won the 2nd Test by 106 runs; level series 1-1

India accumulated all the nine wickets left on the final day of the second Test match against England on Monday to win the match by 106 runs. Axar Patel took the first wicket of the day after sending Rehan Ahmed (23) back in the 22nd over.

Ollie Pope, who looked set to play a big knock was undone by Ravichandran Ashwin and Rohit Sharma. England’s former captain, Joe Root came out with an aggressive intent as he raced away to 16 off 10 deliveries.

However, he mistimed one only to be caught by Axar Patel off Ashwin. It was Kuldeep Yadav, who took the big wicket of Zak Crawley (73) in the 42nd over and in the very next over, Bumrah had Bairstow leg before.

Ben Foakes (36) and Hartley ignited some hope with a 55-run partnership but it was also short lived. In the end, England were bundled out for 292 runs.
