In a significant development, Rajasthan Royals have opted to bat first in their ninth group-stage fixture of the ongoing Indian Premier League season against Mumbai Indians.

The Royals have brought ace pacer Trent Boult back into the playing XI, benching Australian spinner Adam Zampa. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians have dropped Arjun Tendulkar and Jason Behrendorff, replacing them with Arshad Khan and Jofra Archer, respectively.

Here's what Sanju Samson stated

"We would like to bat first. I think we have played a lot at Wankende and we know what the wicket provides. So we need to stick to our plans. Absolutely the boys are happy in the dugout. We have been playing good cricket and we need to just do the same. We have one change- Boulty (Trent Boult) comes in place of Zampa."

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma disclosed that they would have anyway bowled first, considering the track generally gets better to bat with time. Besides informing the team changes, Sharma expected a bit more consistency from his troops.

"We were looking to bowl first. It's a good wicket. We want a score infront of us and hopefully, we do well to restrict them. We played good cricket and also there has been lack of consistency. This season has been up and down for us. We should pick ourselves up and put a strong performance tonight. We have made two changes. Jofra Archer and Arshad Khan are back. Jason Behrendorff and Arjun Tendulkar are out."
