In the exciting qualifier match of BBL 14, Hobart Hurricanes aka the Cane Train managed to book their win by 12 runs as their next destination will be the BBL 14 Final on January 27. The match was an exciting affair with the Hurricanes dominating with both the bat and the ball with disciplined performances from each player of the team. Though the Sixers lost the qualifier, they will have another shot at the final against the knockout winner.

Here’s the timeline of how the Sixers vs Hurricanes panned out in Bellerive Oval:

SIX vs HUR Highlights: Mitchell Owen, Caleb Jewell Set The Tone For Hurricanes

Though Mitchell Owen fell early in the fifth over, the opener set the tone for Hobart Hurricanes with his explosive 36 off 15. Caleb Jewell partnered with him for a few runs before he was sent off by Jafer Chohan.

Nevertheless, Caleb picked up after Owen left and racked up 40 runs while partnering with Matthew Wade and Ben McDermott. While Owen bagged 3 sixes and 3 boundaries, Jewell snagged two boundaries as he played a steadier knock for the Hurricanes.

SIX vs HUR Highlights: McDermott-Tim David Fireworks Push Hurricanes To Respective Total

While Hurricanes had a decent flow of runs on the field, they also faced several hiccups from Sixers bowlers, namely, Ben Dwarshuis and Chohan. While they have been instrumental with the ball for Sixers, Ben Mcdermott showed resistance with his 42 off 31 and Tim David, coming after Jewell also bagged an explosive 25 runs off 10 deliveries to help the Cane Train run smoothly.

Though both batters failed to convert their individual scores to a big start, their flashy innings laced by McDermott's 4 boundaries and Tim David's 2 boundaries and 2 sixes helped Hurricanes post a total of 173 on the board.

SIX vs HUR Highlights: Meredith-Gannon Pair Up To Give Sixers Early Scare

Cameron Gannon and Riley Meredith paired up to give the Sydney Sixers a solid headache from the very start of their innings. With Josh Philippe, Jack Edwards and Moises Henriques were sent off quickly by Gannon, leaving Sixers reeling at 5-3 at the end of 2.2 overs, Kurtis Patterson and Jordan Silk showed resistance pairing up for a massive 75-run stand for 53 balls giving the Sixers a sigh of relief.

However, the crucial partnership was broken by Gannon as he took out Patterson in the first ball of the 12th over with a short-pitched delivery. Patterson signed off with his commendable 48 off 33 as Gannon denied him his half-century. However, Jordan Silk stayed at the crease to keep the Sixers' hopes for the ticket to the finale alive.

SIX vs HUR Highlights: Jordan Silk's Fifty In Vain As Nathan Ellis Bags Him To Crush Sixers' Chasing Spirit

Even after the initial 5-3, the Sixers came back into the game with resilience. Building on the partnership with Patterson, Jordan Silk scored a well-deserved fifty to minimise the required run rate. Lachlan Shaw was also partnering with him well to anchor the Sixers back into the game. However, Silk was sent off by Nathan Ellis in the crucial 19th over.

Ben Dwarshuis came after Silk but couldn't hold on to the chase. Chris Jordan came to bowl the final over where 21 runs were required. He defended the target successfully with his disciplined bowling, guiding Hobart Hurricanes to the BBL 14 Final as they are now also set to host the final match on January 27.
