Jack Edwards takes a screamer [Source: @bbl/x.com]
We might have seen the best catch in cricket history as Sydney Sixers' Jack Edwards pulled off a screamer Vs Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League Qualifier 1 on Tuesday. Edwards showed his athleticism and agility to take a near impossible catch as the ball travelled fast and the fielder had to react quickly to grab it.
The Hurricanes batted first and were off to a flying start as Mitchell Owen was at his absolute best as the batter demolished the new ball attack of the Sixers. He struck barrage of boundaries and gave a flying start before getting dismissed for a well-compiled 15-ball 36.
While his knock was certainly the highlight of the first 6 overs, but the show stealer was Jack Edwards and his brilliance on the field. Hurricanes batter, Matthew Wade played a late cut shot and tried sneaking in a boundary.
However, his efforts went in vain due to the excellent work on the field. Edwards flew to his right and stuck his hand out to take the greatest catch in cricket history.
Hurricanes eteing a commanding total
The Hobart Hurricanes have plethora of talent in their batting order as they eye a big total against a strong Sixers lineup. The team lost two quick wickets and with the wicket of Owen, the momentum was disrupted as the run-rate slowed down.
However, the team still has Tim David left in the tank and he'll be eager to propel the Hurricanes to a strong total. At the moment, Ben McDermott is playing alongside Caleb Jewell.
