Bangladesh endured a shocking batting collapse on Day 1 of the first Test against Zimbabwe, getting bowled out for just 191 runs, their fourth-lowest Test total at home. The entire innings folded inside the third session at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, giving Zimbabwe the early advantage in the series opener.
Electing to bat first, the hosts failed to stitch significant partnerships after a promising 66-run stand between Mominul Haque and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto. The batting order crumbled under pressure as Zimbabwe’s bowlers struck at regular intervals.

Mominul Haque top-scored with a gritty 56 off 105 deliveries, including eight fours and a six. Captain Shanto contributed 40 runs from 69 balls, but apart from them, only Jaker Ali (28) and Hasan Mahmud (19) offered brief resistance. This etches the score to Bangladesh's top five lowest totals at home.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwean bowling attack was led by Wellington Masakadza and Blessing Muzarabani, who shared six wickets between them. Masakadza took 3 for 21 in 10 overs, while Muzarabani claimed 3 for 50 in 19 overs.
Victor Nyauchi also played a key role, dismissing both openers and finishing with 2 for 74. Wessly Madhevere chipped in with 2 for 2 in just three overs, cleaning up the tail effectively.
Bangladesh Eye Comeback With The Ball
The collapse will be a major concern for Bangladesh, especially considering the familiar home conditions and the relatively inexperienced Zimbabwean attack.
With the pitch still offering something for the bowlers, Bangladesh will look to bounce back with the ball as the play resumes with Zimbabwe batters on strike.
