After a disappointing ODI series, India turned things around in the opening Test against Bangladesh where they secured an easy 188-runs victory. The KL Rahul-led side will eye a series win when they take on the hosts in the second Test and final match of the tour on Thursday, December 22 at Shere Bangla Stadium, Mirpur.
India, who were without their regular skipper Rohit Sharma put in a complete performance in the opening Test match with the likes of Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav standing out with the bat and ball.
Although the touring party will remain without the services of their regular captain Rohit Sharma and pacer Navdeep Saini for the second Test, India boasts a good balance between youth and experience, putting them in good stead.
As for Bangladesh, they have not clicked as a complete unit in the first match. Zakir Hasan was the only positive in their underwhelming batting performance. Their bowling department suffered a massive setback as Ebadot Hossain ruled out of the second Test.
If the hosts are to challenge the Indians in their own backyard, a lot will rely on the likes of Taskin Ahmed, Shakin Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Zakir Hasan, the last match centurion. With both teams eyeing a win, an exhilarating Test match beckons in Mirpur.
