Kuldeep strikes four as follow-on looms over Bangladesh

A day that started with a lot of promise for Bangladesh turned into a nightmare as they stand on the edge of a follow-on.

With just 133 for 8 on the board at stumps on Day 2, Bangladesh certainly need a miracle to make a comeback in this Test match.

With a lot of talk going around if India would take the aggressive route, they decided to go the other way around and frustrated the Bangladeshi bowlers with their astute defence.

Despite losing Shreyas Iyer early in the day for 86, the unlikely duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav joined hands and stitched a 92-run stand that solidified India's position in the game.

Ashwin showed once again why he's so valuable for the Indian side with the bat in hand. The wily spinner scored a gritty 58 that laid a strong foundation for the Indian bowlers. Kuldeep was not far behind as he showed grit, determination and great character to score patient 40.

Eventually the Indian side were bundled out for 404. For Bangladesh, Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraj were the pick of the bowlers with 4-wickets a piece.

With the absence of Bumrah and Shami hampering the Indian bowling attack, Mohammed Siraj took the responsibility and was the chief destroyer up-front. He snapped up the wickets of Najmul Hossain Shanto, Litton Das, and Zakir Hasan to push Bangladesh on the back-foot.

With the top order back in the pavilion for nothing, the Tigers crumbled under pressure. Fair to say that the wicket slowed down considerably and the Indian spinners took full advantage of it.

It was the comeback Test for Kuldeep Yadav and he made full use of it. The Chinaman was slower through the air and asked questions to the batters on a regular basis.

He took 4 for 33 and was arguably India's best bowler on a pitch that had plenty of assistance for the spinners.

Bangladesh still trail by 271 runs and luckily for them, Mehidy Hasan is still at the crease. Can they make a comeback on Day 3?
