Day three resumed with Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith playing out a probing spell by Pakistan bowlers, which witnessed both batters play with composure. The duo slowly and steadily built up a formidable-looking stand worth 79 runs, which was broken after Shah Masood's smart captaincy.

Masood deployed three fielders on the off side for Smith, and the player ended up handing a simple catch to Babar Azam off Mir Hamza for 38. Soon, Labuschagne also followed Smith, getting bowled off a dream delivery by Agha Salman just minutes before Lunch.

Salman purchased enough turn to find the gap between bat and pad, where the ball ended up rattling Labuchagne's stumps for 60.

The post-lunch session started with Aamer Jamal getting rid of Travis Head, after which Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey absorbed Pakistan's pressure and ensured Australia managed to close down the opponent's lead.

The pair added 84 valuable runs as Marsh, who survived a close leg-before call, slammed his fourth fifty of the series. Spinner Sajid Khan provided Pakistan with joy moments before the tea break, getting Alex Carey for a gritty 38.

The third and final session of play started with Jamal ending Marsh's resistance for 54, after which the Australian tail just collapsed.

Jamal snapped up all the remaining three wickets in quick succession to claim his third Test five-wicket haul as Australia folded for 299, handing Pakistan a 14-run lead, where the host lost their last five wickets for just ten runs.

Despite the lead, Pakistan got off to the poorest of starts, losing opener Abdullah Shafique and captain Shan Masood for respective ducks.

Former captain Babar Azam, along with debutant Saim Ayub, played out a probing spell of bowling by Australia, where the latter even played some aggressive shots to put pressure back on the home side.

The pair consolidated Pakistan's position and brought up 57 runs in 98 balls before ace spinner Nathan Lyon sent Ayub packing.

The wily Lyon outfoxed Ayub with a ball that did not turn and went straight with the angle, which the batter played a defensive push and got himself leg-before.

The man with the golden arm, Travis Head, in his very third over of the day, got the big wicket of Azam, who, in an attempt to play the cover drive, gave the wicketkeeper a faint edge.

In his final spell of the day, Shakeel, too, lasted just 19 balls before Hazlewood got the batter to edge one straight into the safe hands of Steve Smith at slips. In the same time, Hazlewood scalped wickets of Khan and Salman, leaving Pakistan reeling on 68 for 7.

The final session witnessed 11 wickets, where just 78 runs were scored. At stumps on Day 3, Pakistan have gained an 82-run lead over Australia but had only three wickets left in the kitty.
