Spencer Johnson, the tall left-arm seamer displayed his full repertoire in the second T20I against Pakistan at SCG to trigger Pakistan's collapse in a low-scoring game. Spencer Johnson picked his maiden five-wicket haul and made sure that Australia kept coming back in the game whenever Pakistan threatened to make a comeback.
Pakistan were chasing the target of 148 and Australia needed early wickets with the ball. Xavier Bartlett first got the big wicket of Babar Azam and then Spencer Johnson removed Sahibzada Farhan in third over of the innings. Pakistan then took the cautious route but Spencer Johnson came back in the 10th over and removed Mohammad Rizwan along with Agha Salman on consecutive deliveries to put Australia on the backfoot.
Pakistan's Batting Group Fails Again
Usman Khan though kept going and Pakistan came back on track with 102 on the board in the 16th over. Australia needed wickets and Spencer Johnson got rid of Usman first and then Abbas Afridi to reduce Pakistan from 102-4 to 107-8. Adam Zampa chipped in with two wickets there and though Pakistan bowlers tried to do their best with the bat, they fell short by 13 runs.
In the first half, Haris Rauf delivered another strong bowling performance and picked four wickets while Abbas Afridi picked three to keep Australia in check. The home team started the match on a bright note, but none of their batters could convert their start on a pitch that had decent help for the bowlers. Australia have now taken a unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series and the final game will be played in Hobart on Monday, November 18.
