Assam vs Services Ranji Trophy fixture made an unprecedented record on October 26. The Elite Group C clash at Tinsukia saw both teams wrap up the entire match within just 90 overs, which now records as the shortest Ranji Trophy fixture ever in terms of balls bowled.

Upon winning the toss, Assam elected to bat first, and Services bowler Arjun Sharma holed out the batting lineup with his 5-wicket haul from his 6.2 overs. Only Riyan Parag and Pradyun Saikia's contributions were notable for Assam, with them making 36 and 52 runs respectively.

History made as Assam lose face in Ranji Trophy encounter

The middle order of Assam was tainted with golden ducks as the fallout saw Assam bundle up the game inside 17.2 overs. Services, however, were also not indifferent when it came to perform with the bat. Riyan Parag took the responsibility to slide Services' lineup with his fifer. It was only Irfan Ali's 51 that made the team put up a sub-par 108 in 29.2 overs.

Notably, Arjun and Mohit Jangra also bagged hat-tricks in the same innings, which is also the first time ever in Ranji Trophy's 91-year history.

Assam's second innings was better in terms of minutes batted as they survived 12 overs more than their first innings. Nevertheless, the side slid down for just 75 runs with Arjun Sharma wearing the hero's cape again.

Nevertheless, drawing an end to the misery of Assam, from Services, Mohit Ahlawat and Ravi Chauhan saw the end to the game by chasing a target of 71 runs with ease.

Currently, Services stand at the top of the table for Elite, Group C, with 13 points in their bag, while Assam struggle at the fifth position with only one point from their two matches.
