Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah gave a timely reminder to all the Pakistan cricket fans of his immense talent as the right-arm seamer produced an all-round show in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) match for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. He was at the heart of a memorable win as the youngster showed his potential with a breath-taking spell.
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots scored 174/8 batting first on a batting surface, and Barbados Royals were expected to chase down the total. But the Royals, unaware of the Naseem storm, came out to bat with a positive intent and had a flying start, as the side scored 49 runs in no time.
Naseem destroys Barbados with magical spell
Despite losing a few wickets in the quest to reach the target, Barbados were always in front, and with Rovman Powell going strong, victory was there's before Naseem struck. He dismissed a well-set Powell with a slower delivery, and then came the ball of the tournament.
He bowled a toe-crushing yorker to Eathan Bosch, as his stumps went for a cartwhell, and the Nevis Patriots pacer had two wickets which changed the course of the game. He finished the match with figures of 2 for 32 in 4 overs, and helped his team win the game by 12 runs. Apart from the bowl, he also contributed with the bat, scoring crucial 19 off 11 balls.
Naseem snubbed in Pakistan Asia Cup squad
This heroic performance in the CPL was a statement by Naseem Shah, who was snubbed by Pakistan from their Asia Cup squad. The pacer was one of the high-profile names alongside Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan, as the players who were neglected by PCB.
Injuries and form took a toll on the youngster as he failed to deliver in the T20I format, and Pakistan decided to bring in Mohammad Wasim Jr in place of Naseem.
